AP High Court Recruitment Notification 2026: The High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati has released a notification to recruit Civil Judges (Junior Division) in the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service on aphc.gov.in. AP High Court Civil Judge Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates applying for the Civil Judge (Junior Division) post must fulfil the educational, age and other conditions prescribed in the notification.
AP High Court Civil Judge Educational Qualification for Direct Recruitment
- Candidates applying through Direct Recruitment must be Law graduates who have obtained a Law Degree preceding one year as on the date of notification issued for the year 2026.
- Candidates must also have good character and should not have any condition that renders them unfit for appointment.
AP High Court Civil Judge Educational Qualification for Recruitment by Transfer
- Candidates applying through Recruitment by Transfer must possess a Degree in Law awarded by any University established by law in India and must be a confirmed member or approved probationer in one of the eligible categories specified in the notification.
- These include specified posts in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, District Judiciary, Prosecution Services, Law Department, Legislature Department and offices of the Advocate General, Government Pleaders and Public Prosecutors, among others.
- Candidates applying through transfer must also satisfy the service, conduct and other conditions prescribed in the notification.
AP High Court Civil Judge Age Limit 2026
- Candidates applying through Direct Recruitment should not have completed 35 years of age as on 1 September 2026.
- Candidates applying through Recruitment by Transfer should not have completed 48 years of age as on 1 September 2026.
AP High Court Civil Judge Selection Process 2026
The selection process consists of three stages:
- Screening Test
- Written Examination
- Viva Voce
AP High Court Screening Test
The High Court will conduct a computer-based screening test for shortlisting candidates.
- Total Marks: 100
- Number of Questions: 100
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Objective Questions
- Duration: 2 hours
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40%
Candidates securing 40% or more marks in the Screening Test will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:10 of the available vacancies for the Written Examination. The marks obtained in the Screening Test will not be added to the Written Examination marks for preparing the final merit list. The Screening Test is conducted only for shortlisting candidates.
AP High Court Exam Pattern 2026
Candidates shortlisted through the Screening Test will appear for the Written Examination. The Written Examination consists of three papers.

The questions in the examination are to be answered in English, except for the translation component.
English Paper: Paper III is divided into two parts:
- Part I: 40 marks – Translation from English to Telugu and Telugu to English.
- Part II: 60 marks – Essay writing on Legal Subjects.
Candidates have to secure 40% marks in each part of Paper III. The marks obtained in Paper III will not be considered for eligibility for the Viva Voce or final selection. The marks obtained in Paper I, Paper II and Viva Voce will be considered for selection.
Minimum Marks Required in Written Examination
The minimum qualifying marks differ according to the category.

Recruitment by Transfer
Candidates applying through Recruitment by Transfer must secure:
- At least 55% marks in Paper I and Paper II, and
- At least 60% marks in aggregate in the Written Examination.
AP High Court Viva Voce 2026
- The viva voce carries 50 marks.
- After the Written Examination result is announced, candidates will be called for the Viva Voce in the ratio of 1:3 of the available vacancies in the respective categories.
- Candidates who remain absent from the Viva Voce will be considered disqualified from selection.
Final Selection for AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment
For Direct Recruitment, the candidates must meet the prescribed aggregate qualifying marks in the Written Examination and Viva Voce.
- OC/EWS candidates: 60% aggregate
- BC candidates: 55% aggregate
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates: 50% aggregate
